Work Experience
Empowering the Next Generation of Creative Professionals
At Children’s World, we are proud to offer flexible work experience placements designed to bridge the gap between college theory and professional practice.
We have been fortunate to collaborate closely with students from Strode College, providing them with a high-energy platform to complete essential work assignments. Whether it is mastering filmmaking and digital editing, refining interview skills, or managing live sound and technical production, our events offer a real-world environment for students to excel.
Changing Lives: Our New SEND Training Pilot
We are launching an exciting new vocational training pilot to help students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Glastonbury and Mendip find great jobs.
Right now, life can be tough for young people with learning disabilities in Somerset. They face rural isolation, extra living costs of around £1,095 a month, and nationally, only 4.8% of people with an EHCP find steady jobs.
We want to change that! Partnering with Devito’s Circus and Soundvision, we are creating a unique, fully supported path from the classroom to the workplace.
A UK First?
While supported internships aren't new, mixing professional circus arts and digital sound production into a training path for SEND students is! We are combining high-impact creative skills with safe, low-risk work environments. This programme is built for both special education and mainstream schools, ensuring no student gets left behind.
Project Timeline & Development
We are currently building this project hand-in-hand with our community. Here is the plan:
-
Summer 2026: First chats and consultations with local mainstream and SEND schools.
-
Autumn 2026: Consultations with other organisations wanting to join the scheme.
-
Regular Updates: We’ll share all our progress right here on our website.
-
2027: The official launch! We will welcome our very first group of learners.
Safe, Easy, and Ready-to-Go for Schools
We know how much paperwork school staff have to deal with. That’s why our Enrichment Programme comes fully prepared.
We meet and exceed all UK safety and safeguarding rules (matching afPE Safe Practice and Ofsted frameworks). With Enhanced DBS-checked staff and full risk assessments ready, you can relax while your pupils focus on learning and growing.
Calling All Local Employers!
To make this work, we need local businesses to team up with us. Helping these amazing young people transition into work isn’t just life-changing—it’s great for business too.
Partnering with us helps you meet the Equality Act 2010 and the Social Value Act (great for winning public contracts). Plus, with the new 2026 "Right to Try" laws, there is extra support to help SEND talent join your workforce. You’ll get dedicated, skilled team members while boosting your team's confidence and inclusivity.
Watch this space as we build a brighter, more inclusive future for Somerset’s young talent!
