Peer Pressure WorkshopsFollowing on our successful workshops which address the subject of bullying, we have now devised workshops that address the subject of peer pressure. Children's World has found that when asking children to discuss issues such as peer pressure or bullying they all seem to know the "correct" answers to give. They all seem to know, in theory, what to do if a situation arises - however, when it comes to real life, we know this isn't the case! What is stopping the children making the link between theory and practice? It was with these thoughts in mind that we started devising our new workshops. We feel that for children to be able to act appropriately in times of crisis, they need to feel that they are in an environment where they understand and respect each others' differences, and are able to put their trust in people as well as letting others put their trust in them. These workshops are aimed at sharing these ideas, along with dealing with the specific subject of peer pressure. By the close of the workshops we hope to have shown students that although there are various tools for dealing with situations, most of the work lies with them as individuals. Very successful workhops were undertaken with Year 8 pupils at St. Dunstan's Secondary School, using discussion, trust games and roleplay to address the subject of peer pressure. "The pupils benefit enormously from all your workshops. The children who took part in the Peer Pressure Workshop fed back that it had been extremely beneficial, enjoyable and had given them strategies to use in the future. Your team leaders are superb - they really have a good insight into working with children." HEAD OF YEAR 8, ST. DUNSTAN'S SECONDARY SCHOOL, GLASTONBURY. 2 x 90-120 minute workshops can be undertaken by our 3 main workshop leaders with 2 groups of approximately 30 children in one day at a cost of £300.
