Interactive Lightbeam Workshops.

What are interactive light beams?
They look like regular stage lights but are equipped with a sensor beam as well. This beam reacts to certain reflective material. This reaction can then be used via computer software to trigger sounds and/or images. These sensor beams pick up the slightest movement and so can be very useful for children with restricted movement.

Our Workshop.
Using the interactive light beam we have devised a workshop for P.M.L.D. students, and a separate workshop for S.L.D. students.

P.M.L.D. Workshop
This workshop caters for up to 4 students and their carers at a time and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Each student has a beam to interact with. After an initial introduction, the students are encouraged to play with different sounds, triggered by the beams to create music. We have lots of different sounds and music for the students to explore and play. The workshop closes with the students providing a 'soundscape' to a series of projected images of the universe.

This workshop is very relaxing and can be very rewarding for the students. It can also have physio-theraputic benefits by placing the beam in specific areas for students to reach.

S.L.D. Workshop
This workshop includes much of the P.M.L.D. session, but adds some more directed activities alongside. These more directed activities involve sequencing, co-ordination, and rhythm.

These sessions work best in a darkened room with just the coloured light beams providing the ambience.

Children's World would visit your school all day and fit in as many 45 minute sessions as possible.
