"Anti-Bullying" Video Workshop Day
for years 6 - 8

Bullying and Anti-Social Behaviour are issues that regularly need to be addressed in schools,
and it can be difficult to think of new ways to allow children to engage and express themselves within this topic.

Our workshop uses film making as the main medium for the students to work with each other and look at these potentially sensitive issues. Alongside the film making, we encourage talk about ways of dealing with difficult situations and opportunities to think about how to behave towards others. The film footage is edited and returned to the school as a DVD. This could be rolled out throughout the school as a resource for further work, covering many aspects of Social and Emotional learning.

The Workshop in detail.

  • Run by a 2 person team this whole day workshop caters for up to 30 students.
  • We would need the school hall all day, and access to a classroom.
  • After initial discussions to define bullying and anti-social behaviour, the students are encouraged to give different examples and explain how they might occur. These examples are role-played and used to create a short film. The children are encouraged to improvise and act out the examples and film them around the school. The day finishes with a discussion on any issues raised followed by recapping the schools rules in dealing with these types of problems.
  • After the workshop day, the film footage is taken away, edited and put to music. The final film is usually about 7 minutes in duration.
  • Included at the end of the film are a series of questions designed to help stimulate further discussions on the events portrayed. These can be used as part of P.S.H.E. work. The participating group could become mentors who lead follow-up work throughout the school. You will receive your DVD within 14 days of the workshop.
  • Childrens World provides all the equipment needed for the day. You just provide the students and the space.

This workshop has been developed over many years and has proved a very positive way to cover the subject of bullying and anti - social behaviour and covers many aspects of Social and Emotional Learning.

We were impressed with Paddy and Charlies expertise, endless enthusiasm and encouragement which enabled the children to achieve much more than they thought they could.
Class Teacher, Threeways School, Bath
(Childrens World) have always been very professional, working well with the host organisation...bringing skills, knowledge and enthusiasm...above all, they are able to communicate effectively and meaningfully with children and young people to such an extent that the children have great fun, really do participate in the action and yet are seemingly unaware that what is going on is an Anti-Bullying Workshop. We recommend them without reserve.
